What a fantastic day of racing! Today we had 84 racers take on the Little Buller Spur, and an incredible 17 teams compete in the Interclub race – well done to everyone involved!
Today we raced the Greg Munn Memorial Cup, sponsored by All Saints Estate. Today’s race is a special one, proudly sponsored by All Saints Estate and held in memory of Greg Munn, a passionate skier and long-time SCV member who loved spending time on the slopes of Mt Buller.
Greg skied at Buller for as long as his family can remember, and he was an important part of the SCV community. After his passing at the young age of 42, the idea for the Greg Munn Cup was proposed by Tony Buzzard. The first race was held in 1990 to honour Greg’s love of the mountain and his spirit as a competitor.
In 2017, Greg’s family — Christian, Angela, Archie and Alexander — brought the cup back into circulation to keep his memory alive within the club. Since then, it’s become a meaningful part of the racing calendar. Some of Greg’s closest friends have won the trophy in the past, and in more recent years, some of Christian’s closest mates have had the honour of seeing their names added to the list.
This award is presented to the fastest racer off scratch in the 40 and over category.
Today, we had 25 competitors racing for the cup.
