Ski & Snowboard Racing

Racing is one of the main reasons SCV was created and until 1955, it managed all Victorian skiing and ski racing.

Today, race days are competitive, but never at the expense of fun. Everyone who participates gets the credit they deserve – unless their own children beat them (as often happens) and then there is plenty of friendly ribbing all round.

There are always plenty of races to choose from. SCV members can join Saturday racing, member ski-arounds, skills clinics and Saturday race presentations.

SCV Saturday races have helped to create many Australian ski and snowboard champions and the SCV Race Committee is keen to encourage plenty more.

TEXCO x SCV Family Cup

Some partnerships are worth building on. When Texco Construction joined SCV last season, it wasn’t a one-off — it was the start of something that fit naturally with who we are. A year on, we’re proud to welcome Texco back as presenting sponsor of the SCV Family Cup this Saturday 1 August.

What makes the partnership work is simple: we want the same things. SCV has always stood for more than skiing — it’s a community built on connection, passion and a multigenerational love of the mountains, passed down and shared. Texco fits right in. One of Australia’s largest industrial builders, Texco is a business that genuinely backs community sport, and getting behind clubs like ours is something they love to do. Bringing them back for a second year was an easy decision.

A season in, that support is showing up where it matters most: in the racing itself. Texco’s backing helps us keep SCV Racing affordable and family-friendly, support the next generation of athletes, and advance our not-for-profit mission to grow Australian snowsports and protect the alpine community we all love.

And there’s no better stage for it than the Family Cup. It’s the one event on the calendar where whole families line up together, generations deep, to battle across speed, consistency and endurance for three prized titles: fastest family off scratch, most consistent family, and fastest family off handicap. Coming off a season opener that drew 168 racers under lights on Bourke Street, the momentum behind SCV Racing has never been stronger — and this weekend promises to be a highlight of the season.
